Beneficiaries of the 2007 Blue Ridge Fest
Each year a group of Blue Ridge employees review applications from a number of charitable organizations that want to receive funding from the proceeds of Blue Ridge Fest. This year the charities chosen are listed below.
Anderson Interfaith Ministries provides assistance for the very young to the elderly in Anderson County through six programs: Emergency Assistance, Food Pantry, Backpack Program (for school children), Christmas Program, Home Repair Program, and Women and Children Succeeding.
Foothills Alliance provides prevention, intervention and support services for abused children and victims of sexual assault in Anderson and Oconee counties.
Gleaning House Ministries provides necessities of life to those in need through a Pickens food pantry. Last year, Gleaning House served almost 18,000 families which translates into approximately 71,000 individuals.
Helping Hands of Clemson offers an emergency home for abused and/or neglected children (age birth to 18 years) from a multi-county area, as well as a home for troubled youth that serves as an alternative to incarceration for these young people.
Hidden Treasure Christian School provides children with mental, physical and learning disabilities with a balanced and appropriate education that will enable them to reach their personal potential and participate fully within their own communities.
Hospice of the Upstate provides compassionate high quality care to terminally ill patients and their families, while at the same time offering community leadership and education regarding end-of-life issues. Last year, Hospice of the Upstate served 850 patients for 37,243 days of care and assisted 886 grief support groups and made 762 individual bereavement contacts.
Oconee Crisis Center assists Oconee County residents 24 hours a day, seven days a week with emergency assistance services ranging from medication, shelter, transportation, heating assistance, food and other emergency needs.
Sabrina House Children’s Charity provides happiness and hope for children with cancer with support to patients treated by the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Center of Greenville. Support includes financial and emotional support for both the patient and families of these children, especially at Christmastime. Last year, Sabrina House Children’s Charity supported 44 children and their families.
Samaritan Health Clinic of Pickens County offers non-emergency medical attention free of charge to county residents who cannot afford the cost of medical insurance. Last year, over 20,000 prescriptions were provided and over 2,500 patients received free medical exams.
SHINE Stopping Hunger In Nearby Easley, provides nutritious meals for the hungry in Easley. Last year, over 9,600 people were served a balanced meal.
SHARE of Oconee County supplies emergency assistance to low-income families, the elderly and handicapped in Oconee County in the areas of shelter, heat/utilities, health care or other household emergencies. Last year, SHARE assisted 904 households, 2,450 individuals.
United Christian Ministries supplies direct aid to persons with a proven need in one or more of the following areas: food, heat/utilities, rent/housing, and medicine for life-sustaining treatment.
