Schedule of Fees

For your convenience, application fees and delinquent fees are outlined below.

APPLICATION FEES
Membership Fee $5.00

This fee is charged for every active meter and is refunded to you when you disconnect service.

Connection Fee $25.00
This fee is a one time non-refundable fee charged to connect or establish service by reading the meter to activate billing in your name.
Deposit $150.00
This deposit must be paid at the time application for service is made. There are a few ways a deposit may be waived:
  • Letter of Credit
Provide a Letter of Credit from your previous electric utility provider over the past 12 months with no more than 2 late notices.
  • On Line Utility Credit Check
For a fee of $5.00, with your permission, Blue Ridge can run a credit check to see if deposit can be waived based on your previous paying history record. The $5.00 fee will need to be paid regardless of the outcome of the credit check.

For active members, in-house credit is used to determine if a deposit is needed to connect to a second location or to transfer service if no deposit exists on the account. This must be paid prior to connecting or transferring service.

Transfer Fee $15.00
This fee is a one time non-refundable fee that allows an existing member who is current on their bill to transfer from one location to another location on Blue Ridge lines. Any overdue balance must be paid before transfer can be done.

DELINQUENT FEES
Delinquent Fee (after 25 days) 2% or $5.00 minimum
This fee is charged if your bill is not paid by the due date, which is 25 days after you have been billed.
Cutoff Fee (after 40 days) $15.00
This fee is charged once the 15-day grace period is up and the bill has been pulled on the cutoff list. At this time, the bill is now subject for disconnection for non-payment.
Reconnect Fee (trip charge) $50.00
This fee is charged if electric service has been disconnected for non-payment in order to reinstate electric service. This fee must be paid, in addition to entire overdue balance, before service can be reconnected.
Unauthorized Seal Cut Fee $100.00
Meter Tampering Fee $250.00
This fee is charged if meter has been tampered with as a means of not paying for electricity. Meter tampering can be extremely dangerous and individuals who tamper with electrical equipment often may be subject to service disconnection.
Returned Check Fee $25.00
This fee is charged if a check has been returned to Blue Ridge from your bank for insufficient funds. The customer is given five business days to make check good with cash, money order or credit card to avoid disconnection of electric service.
E-Check Returned Fee $30.00
This fee is charged if a payment made by E-check through Blue Ridge’s Online Payment internet service has been returned from your bank for insufficient funds. The customer is given five business days to make payment with cash, money order or credit card in our office or by phone. Excessive returned E-checks may prevent customer from use of On line payment options.
