 Several years ago, Anderson County Council established the ___-acre Alliance
Industrial Park near the intersection of Interstate 85 and S.C. Highway
81. In January 2004, after a number of years of on-and-off interest from
potential clients, the long-anticipated announcement came: Walgreen would
build a major distribution center in the Alliance Park. The massive facility
would cover 17 acres of ground and would provide employment for hundreds
of workers.
Prior to the coming of Walgreen, the county had erected a shell building
on another tract within the park. That structure places Anderson County
in a strong position for its ongoing program of recruiting industry and
jobs to the area. Blue Ridge made RDA contributions to infrastructure
improvements for the Alliance Industrial Park in 1998, 1999, 2000, and
2003.
